On the second day, we had our tour. I wasn't exactly in the mood to dress up since well, we were just going on tour.
We booked a van from the hotel, Pratunam Pavillion, itself for 10 people. It was a full day tour but there was no tour guide. The driver just drove us to places and we just roamed around for a while.
However, if you're looking for a proper tour with tour guides and such, I would suggest going up to tour agencies. They're found both in Singapore and also at Bangkok airport.
Train Market
Our first stop is to the very famous train market. It was well, a usual market with vegetables, meat and such. But the really cool part is that it's at the side of a train track. The sellers have wheels under their carts and will just pull them all back when the train is coming. The train was pretty huge and the distance between the train and the vegetables were mad close. Do not underestimate the size of that train. I was literally standing 5 feet away from the train and would have gotten hit if someone didn't pull me back. If you're planning to go, be careful. And stay safe.
Being at a train track calls for a hipster 'photoshoot'. The siblings and I decided to have a similar sibling outfit day. So we wore our same same different outerwear that day. I look almost nothing like my siblings, I know. We took more pictures with the cousins, but they aren't with me. :(
Floating Market
The floating market is a must-go whenever you head to Bangkok. The prices of the stuff there is more expensive then other places, but the experience is magnificent.
We sat in a six-seater long boat and rode along the canals. It's interesting to see houses and schools are built on water and their main transportation is a boat. And of course, the very interesting experience of viewing, bargaining and buying things on a boat. It was a really exciting and interesting experience.
The interesting part about this trip was that the wind was very cooling. The sun was scorching hot. But the breeze was very cooling and relaxing. So sitting back of the boat, was pretty relaxing, with the breeze blowing onto your face. Bliss.
Bangkok is also well known for their variety of street food. Of course, I can't eat most of them cause they're not Halal. But their fruit products are just to die for. I mentioned coconut ice cream in my previous post. Now I'm introducing to you grilled bananas. Pure bliss I tell you.
Crunchy on the outside, soft and sweet on the inside. Dipped in the sweet sauce provided, you can't ask for more. I only came across one seller at the floating market, so a definite must have while you're there.
Fruits were practically our staple while we're there. Grilled bananas, Banana martabak, Mangoes, Mango sticky rice, Watermelons, - you name it! Their fruits are just so fresh and juicy and sweet. We practically lived on fruits.
